Kids Route Logo Watch
In the early 1970's the NYC subway system adopted a comprehensive graphic program designed by Massimo Vignelli. One of Vignelli's greatest successes brought order out of the chaos of subway line names and numbers. He focused on the letter and number identification assigned a colored circle to each one, and insisted that signs always list them in alphabetical and numberical order. Without actually naming the lines after their colors, the system built up a subconscious connection between, say, a blue circle and the Eighth Ave lines (A,C,E).
