Gourmet Passport has emerged as the most rewarding F&B app for customer loyalty that constantly reinvents itself to create Gourmet experiences, Gourmet Masterclasses and Chef’s table events for the gourmands in Hyderabad. All finer nuances are looked into right from choosing the right hospitality partners, well thought out menus, warm hosts and beautiful venues.
The Gourmet Mediterranean experience was organized by Shivani Mohan, the vibrant brand ambassador, in conjunction with Westin Hotels. Chef Mahesh Padala rolled out an elaborate seven course dinner, that was as much a treat to the palette as it was to the eye.
The weather played truant but team Westin didn’t miss a beat as they shifted the venue from Casbah to Prego at the last minute. This was a testament to the professionalism and impeccable planning by Rohit Dar, GM, The Westin Hyderabad and Vijay Chandran, Director F&B.
The Executive Chef, Mahesh Padala, was like a man on a mission, inspecting each course personally before rolling it out from the kitchen. In keeping with the Mediterranean tradition, a hot mezze followed the cold one. The cold mezze was plated creatively – nattily stacked fried pita triangles sandwiched with hummus, muhammara and baba ganoush served with a bowl of pickled olives. The hot mezze comprised of sigara böreği and I was pleasantly surprised at the pumpkin filling instead of the more common feta or lor.
The steaming bowl of flavorful harira with chickpeas and lamb chunks was followed by lamb kibbeh and shrimp. The Grilled lamb chops, main course, were cooked perfectly. I couldn’t resist taking a picture of a cross section after I cut a bite!
The dessert platter, by chef Adnan Sheik, really impressed with the carefully thought out elements like a spoonful of mascarpone and whipped cream cheese piped artistically to balance the sweetness from baklava and chia seed muhallebi.
The evening was well spent interacting with bright minds like Ankit Mehrotra, Founder & CEO, Dineout, Suneet Kulkarni, Founder & COO, Torqus and city’s well known food bloggers and food aficionados.
