After playing a lively Santa at four different places over a span of two days, Hubby needed to put his aching feet up. I saw this as a perfect opportunity to make some brownie points with Santa-hubby-Claus and cracked open a bottle of Cabernet Shiraz to usher in Christmas. This young red wine is the most recent addition to the ASAV stables and what better time to try out something new than now. Medium body with fruity and spicy notes, it was very pleasant. I think I will need another glass and a cleaner palate to be able to detect the hint of dark chocolate it promised though.
I’ve no illusions of being a wine connoisseur so my feedback is purely from a (cocktails loving) laywoman’s perspective. A higher viscosity on the palate than some of the other wines I have tried; what enticed me to finish my glass was the lack of acidity. This is definitely a wine I intend to add to my mini bar.
ASAV Vinyards has grown to carve a niche for itself since its inception in 2016. In keeping with the season of sharing and spreading cheer, Pedhapally Kishan – the Founder, is donating a percentage of the sales proceeds towards funding text books for underprivileged children. At Rs. 890 a bottle, one doesn’t need to reach deep into one’s pocket. So go on folks, buy a bottle or a case and raise a toast to the new year. Cheers!
