When I was invited for a veg haleem tasting at A La Liberty – a vegetarian fine dining restaurant, last Friday, my first instinct was to beg off, but then, I remembered my recent great experience with veg haleem and I thought why not! I’m so glad I did.

The veg haleem, was delicately spiced and had a texture that would have you mistake it for a chicken haleem; I kid you not folks! It was served with the usual suspects…the rogan, crunchy caramelized birista, fried cashews, lemon and mint. The haleem is available in a combi offer with a small portion of paneer 65 and double Ka meetha for 150. Having tasted it, I think it is great VFM. As I chomped away happily, I declared, “the chicken 65 is delicious ‘, after a few seconds of stunned silence, a foodie friend nudged me and whispered we are at a pure veg restaurant!!

The dinner buffet had a good spread. Neelam, one of the directors, personally curates every element of the menu for the week. The things that I would go back for would be – exotic vegetables and cheese pizza, pudina paneer tikka in starters and the mind blowing tender coconut ras malai in dessert. What a fabulous creation! The rasmalai made using in house chenna has a firm texture and the milk for the ‘ras’ is infused with tender coconut.

The kofte in the famous ‘shaam savera’, although nice, had disintegrated into the gravy. I didn’t care much for the risotto like stuffing in one of the starters. Loved the tangy cinnamon, apple cider and green apple mocktail (not a part of the buffet).

Would I go back?
A resounding yes!
